HIS BIRTHDAY WEEK: 5 SIMPLE CELEBRATION IDEAS FOR TWO

I was never one to celebrate any of my achievements…Not birthdays, nor graduations, and certainly not holidays. It doesn’t mean I wasn’t grateful for all these things but I am an introvert. I simply acknowledge  and appreciate things and move on swiftly.

And then along came my husband who loves to celebrate achievements whether his or of those closest to him. For him, celebration doesn’t always mean ‘big’. Often, it is in smallest ways. He always says, ‘let’s just make memories ‘.

You see, my husband is an extrovert…of the extreme kind? I honestly do not think it’s possible to achieve a higher level of extroversion than he has?  He is of a special kind.

So, I have found myself having to bridge my gap…to cure myself of keeping happy moments to myself.  I had to learn and keep up with his vibe and stamina to make memories.  Nowadays, I find myself asking, ‘what are we doing for your birthday ?’ etc… Questions like that…. I surprise myself! ?

In the current circumstances, the Covid-19 pandemic has made it really difficult to be as inclusive as one would like to when celebrating milestones. Chances are that you will find you and your partner having to create birthday hype just two of you.

This was hubby’s birthday  week. Here are some memory-making ideas that we got up to when we weren’t celebrating with the kids. They are as simple as they are awesome:

1. Road Trips

We fuelled the car and drove to Namanga and back not to see anything in particular but just to enjoy the drive, conversation, music and all the funny word games we played on our way.

2. Lunch and Dinner Dates

This never grows old if you love to eat and try new things and places. It’s more fun when you try places neither of you have been to.

3. Staycations

Staycation shenanigans ?

Checking into a hotel for a night or two is a plan…. I say no more ??

4. Surprise Gifts

I got hubby something I thought he would love and he did! I usually go for gifts that are practical…for day to day use rather than sentimental ones…though those are good too. You just need to know the preferences of the one you are gifting.

5. Photos

We just carried our tripod with us, went to places we liked and took pictures! Yes, a tripod ensures that you don’t bother anyone to take pictures with both of you in them. You don’t even want too many hands handling your phone…it isn’t safe any more.

I hope you get to try some of these with your significant other ❤
